SINGLE REVIEW: Greyson Chance – Holy Feeling

It’s so easy to get caught up in the unknown. With the heavy feeling of not being in control of what’s happening weighing heavily over you and your mind being in a constant state of frenzy. We’ve all been there, but sometimes you just need to remember to be present and allow yourself to find the beauty in right now and soak that in. And that’s the personal reflection Greyson Chance takes on the lead single from his forthcoming record which is slated for release later this year.

‘Holy Feeling’ is a bright and anthemic reminder of that hopeful sentiment. He explores the process of opening his eyes while falling in love and feeling that religious-like feeling coming over him while being around that person and being present in the moment with them. If you’ve ever been in love then you will know this feeling well, and you will be able to verify that euphoric energy he describes so passionately. “Holy feeling. The type your God can’t give you and it brings you to your knees. So give into me” he sings during the ethereal hook.

There is a passionate and romantic energy that charges through the song which is also visually highlighted through the songwriting he’s crafted with Teddy Geiger, Chat Copelin, and Christian Theriot. The production is very grand and has this cinematic edge to it that reminds me of ‘shut up’ which is an interesting coincidence because he shot the music video for Holy Feeing’ in the same place that he shot the ‘shut up’ video.

Greyson Chance has already described ‘Holy Feeling’ as the centre piece of his forthcoming album and how it inspired everything else within its narrative, and that’s something you can immediately understand why when listening to it for the first time. It’s a song that feels cathartic, emotional, romantic, and genuinely shows a mature growth from the place he was at personally and artistically on ‘portraits’.
