Over the years Jessica Mauboy has cemented herself as one of Australia’s leading pop exports with a discography which has seen chart topping success in Australia and overseas. This year she has taken some time off to work on her upcoming fourth studio album and her first single has her walking astray from her pop/urban niche and attempting a heavier dance sound. “This Ain’t Love” is a playful and vibrant track that compliments her vocals extremely well but where this song lacks creativity is in the production. The song sounds exactly the same as an Ella Eyre track with the same style production and predictable beats that aren’t memorable and are just plain annoying after a while.  It makes the song sound generic and at times her vocal delivery was the same as Eyre’s and I legitimately forgot who I was listening to. When I heard Jessica Mauboy was releasing a new single I was excited for a new pop bop that was going to become my pre-summer jam but what we got sounds like an Ella Eyre b-side which is heavily exhausted right now.
