SINGLE REVIEW: Kim Petras feat. Nicki Minaj – Alone

A Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj collaboration has been one that has been highly tipped, speculated, and imagined for a long time. But here they are, finally together for the bubblegum-euro-pop inspired “Alone”. Interpolated with the 1999 hit “Better Off Alone” by Alice Deejay, which was later famously reimagined in 2013 for David Guetta’s “Play Hard” with Ne-Yo and Akon, and now they are bringing the femme energy for a big time smash.

This feel good pop track is a formulated moment that isn’t serving a game-changing pop twist, instead it’s reinventing a classic hit and giving it a Y2K punch. Bringing this sample to a whole new audience, the club ready track is going to be remixed a thousand times and really earn its place to be played over and over again on the dance floor. And Nicki’s verse is a standout with an already viral new nickname for Kim – aka Kim Petty.

“Alone” is a song for the girls, the gays, and the they’s, and if you fall into one of those categories then you better be ready to hear a whole lot of it.
