The Kid LAROI is in superstar mode, and he’s quickly become one of the biggest Australian exports before even releasing his debut album. ‘Stay’ featuring Justin Bieber was undoubtedly one of the biggest (and best) tracks of 2021, and he’s ready to continue that trajectory with his first release of the year.
‘Thousand Miles’ comes just in time before he kicks off his world tour in Sydney on May 26, and it’s a song that is ready to ignite the singalong’s in the massive arena’s he’s playing. Led by an acoustic guitar riff with a hip-hop beat added over the top with some light piano, he builds this distinct and contrasting soundscape. It’s reminiscent of early Post Malone, and feels anthemic in the way the song builds throughout its 2.45 minute duration.
Lyrically it’s all about the mistakes and regrets he continually makes. It’s a self-destructive pattern that sees him ruining something good before he even gets the opportunity to truly live in it. “Here goes another mistake I know I’m gon’ make, I know I’m gon’ make tonight” he sings, before later confessing “And I will never change. I couldn’t even if I wanted to for you”.
This is another smash hit for The Kid Laroi. It’s quite simple, you just need to press play and you will become obsessed with everything he’s doing.
