SINGLE REVIEW: Eddie Benjamin – Weatherman

Get ready to fall in love with Eddie Benjamin and his experimentally charged sound. The Australian raised and now Los Angeles based singer-songwriter has been laying down the foundations for his forthcoming debut album with an impressive string of singles. Joining Justin Bieber on his Justice World Tour which kicked off in San Diego last night, he’s celebrating by releasing his most addictively penned single yet.

‘Weatherman’ is a track is full of soul and funk while still being leaning into the future which is something his music to-date has always steered towards. From the opening keys and slick vocal delivery, you’ll be immediately intoxicated by the experimental soundscape he’s created. There is a unique bounce and energy to it which is so infectious and will have you ready to bop and singalong with him.

The playful track has this upbeat and bright tone to it which hears him proclaiming the sentiment of; “Go tell the weatherman I said, I want a sunny outsider thing”. While on the surface level it may seem like a happy little track about wanting better summer days, there is a darker tone boiling away under the surface. Reflecting on his battle with anxiety, this track actually is his plea to get better. Wishing for better days mentally there is a sentiment of hope attached as he sees the sunshine behind the clouds and is reaching towards it.

‘Weatherman’ is a very bold, infectious and playful track that contrasts dark and bright tones together so magically. Get ready to fall in love!
