SINGLE REVIEW: Peking Duk feat. Slayyyter – Honest

Peking Duk know how to create a festival and club ready anthem. Their discography is full of them. Their live show has almost become a greatest hits affair with the amount of chart topping singles they have under their belt, and they’re ready to add another to the mix.

‘Honest’ hears the Australian duo teaming up with US Hyperpop queen, Slayyyter for an infectious end-of-summer anthem that you can already imagine exploding alongside an array of candy coloured strobes at their next festival appearance. It’s a production style that isn’t unfamiliar to them, with KLP also jumping on the production to help elevate the euphoric energy and lightness the song embodies. It feels very in-line with ‘Sugar’, ‘Move’ and ‘Wasted’ with a stompy hook that’s also reminiscent to the likes of PNAU and Icona Pop.

Slayyyter is a superstar in her own right, and her discography is also majorly compiled of bangers only. But this song is the perfect introduction to Australian audiences who may have not heard her bombastic pop tracks yet. With a huge LGBTQI+ fanbase who have been rallying with her since the start of her career, this song welcomes her to a wider audience who will in-turn get to know everything she stands for.

‘Honest’ is a playful and infectiously laden track that feels like the peak moment of a festival set. It’s pure euphoria, and you won’t be able to start dancing as soon as that beat drops and Slayyyter’s “ooo’s” get stuck in your head.
