SINGLE REVIEW: Jessica Mauboy – Glow

Jessica Mauboy is opening a whole new chapter in her journey after signing to Warner Music Australia, and she wants you to immediately know that it’s all about confidence and growth. ‘Glow’ is the disco-infused lead single that welcomes you into this mature and sensual soundscape that also pays homage to the early roots behind her debut album ‘Been Waiting’ with a fresh perspective.

From the opening lines of “Welcome to my future. Reality’s a rumour. Player One, this is my game”, she paints this imagery of stepping into the confidence she’s found through adulthood. She takes charge and walks you through the growth she’s experienced, and asks the people around her to allow her to continue growing and to not hold her back while she’s in-bloom. “Can you just let me glow? I wanna do this alone. Let me be the one that I need to be to grow” she confidently sings during the infectious hook.

Co-written with George Maple and produced by Cosmo’s Midnight, they narrow-in on this assertive anthem about recognising your own worth and not holding back from allowing yourself to grow and evolve. The production is sleek, fresh, confident and even has this sensual edge that’ll have you immediately moving your hips along to the beat. Somewhere found in a disco RNB soundscape, you can hear a lot of current influence from artists like Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and even Cosmo’s Midnight’s back catalogue.

This fresh take on Jessica Mauboy’s sound is very exciting. From the first listen you will be drawn into the glittery sonic and ready to have it on repeat all weekend long.
