SINGLE REVIEW: Budjerah feat. MAY-A – Talk

Budjerah is very much still in the introductory phase of his career, but with 1 EP of four songs out in the world he’s already made quite the impact. The 19 year old singer-songwriter is one of the most tipped breakout names of 2021, and for good reason. Working alongside collaborator Matt Corby to hone a strong artistic vision, there has been a raw maturity and honesty that has shone through everything he’s released so far.

‘Talk’ featuring MAY-A is Budjerah’s first release since his EP and huge PNAU collaboration ‘Stranger Love’, and it’s one of his brightest releases yet. Directed towards a smoother pop infused and new-age RNB soundscape, this track immediately catches you with its funky groove and soothing hook. Contrasting both of their distinct vocals together in this smooth blend, you will be captivated and pleasantly surprised by how this collaboration works so naturally.

This track hears them reflecting on the importance of communication in all forms of relationships, and how we tend to hide behind text messaging and social media in this present time. So many of our issues could be solved if we just picked up the phone and called someone, or met up and spoke about it face-to-face. But for some reason we are too scared to, and that needs to change. “Let’s talk about love. Let’s talk about life. Talk about change. Talk about us. Let’s talk about fights. Talk about things nobody does” they urge during the chorus.

This is a VERY good song. And that’s all you need to know as a take-away. Make sure you add it to your playlist and vibe out, and then call the ones you love to talk about real things.
