SINGLE REVIEW: The Kid LAROI feat. Justin Bieber – Stay

The Kid LAROI has quickly become one of the biggest breakthrough artists of the past 2 years with a growing discography of absolute hits. After teaming up with Justin Bieber on his album ‘Justice’ for the track ‘Unstable’, they’ve collaborated once again, and this may just become one of the biggest songs of the year.

‘Stay’ has hit written all over it. From the very first listen you will be immediately transported to this synth layered and pulsating RNB world that feels intoxicating which compliments the lyrical exploration. With two perspectives on being in love with someone and doing anything for them, Bieber’s verse is about how loyal he is, while Kid LAROI’s verse is acknowledging he’s messed up but ultimately wants them to stay and allow him to make it better. “I do the same thing I told you that I never would. I told you I’d change, even when I knew I never could. I know that I can’t find nobody else as good as you. I need you to stay, need you to stay, hey” he sings during the catchy hook.

The 2:21 minute track is quite short in its delivery but it’s super punchy and has this non-stop energy. Towards the end of the track there is a brief electronic breakdown which adds this element reminiscent to Zedd that provides an unexpected contrast to the song. I wish it was slightly longer so they could explore how that sonic could evolve, but the song is still a hit waiting for you to have on replay for the foreseeable future.
