SINGLE REVIEW: Yorke – Window Shopping

Yorke is beginning a brand new chapter in her musical journey with the excitingly bold and groovy new single ‘Window Shopping’. Soaked in pulsating synths and irresistible guitar riffs, this track hears her truly finding her sound and voice as an artist.

Feeling like a gradual growth from her previous single ‘Gravity’, the singer-songwriter has honed a confident and experimentally layered pop sound that steers her towards arena-pop. Drawing comparisons to Julia Michaels, FLETCHER and Dua Lipa, this track is infectiously delicious and honestly her best release yet.

Still doused in her emotively charged vulnerability, the song explores her contrasting struggle with romanticism and self-criticism. It’s that feeling of needing to impress someone constantly when in reality you don’t need to because you’ve already won them over. But you continually feel like you’re not enough for them and it creates this vicious cycle. A big mood! “I keep trying to impress you. I don’t know why that is, but I have to. You’d never know that I keep trying to impress you. I don’t know what I got myself into with you” she sings during the catchy hook.

‘Window Shopping’ is a song that you’ll become obsessed with immediately after the very first listen. Taking you back to when you first heard’ First Light’ and ‘Thought I Could’ in her discography, you’ll remember the exciting and emotional feelings those songs envoked. Yorke has the natural ability to pull you into her gravity and command your attention, and this song proves that yet again. (And yes, that was a clever pun to another song in her discography xoxo)
