SINGLE REVIEW: KLP & Stace Cadet – People Happy

Stace Cadet had one of the biggest breakthrough Australian dance tracks of 2020 with his monstrous smash hit, ‘Energy’. Teaming up with KLP again for another anthemic electronic-pop moment, ‘People Happy’ continues the euphoric escapism that their previous collaboration oozed.

Following in its predecessors footsteps, the structure of this song is quite similar. With pulsating dance beats and high energy thumping through the baseline, it cements its sonically vision quickly. The song doesn’t really evolve too drastically over the 2 and half min duration with the high octane energy immediately present and not going away which is perfect for clubs and festivals. The melody of the hook is quite reminiscent of a PNAU song, and will undoubtedly become a festival favourite because it’s such a carefree and anthemic moment.

Positivity is what this world needs right now, and this song embraces that sentiment. It’s all about capturing the joyful moments in life and to create an escapism from all the darkness that surrounds currently us with the unknown status of the world. “Make the people happy. Moving through your body. Blow your mind and get free. Happy people dance with me” KLP sings during the radiating hook.

With KLP & Stace Cadet Teaming up again as the immediate follow-up single was a bold move to make for both artists as there were always going to be heavy comparisons made to ‘Energy’. But luckily ‘People Happy’ stands strong as a brilliant dance-pop crossover in its own right. Creating an escapism from the confusing state of the world, it will have you wanting to dance all together again and embrace the people in your life that make you happy.
