SINGLE REVIEW: Short Stack – Live4

Short Stack certified their return to music earlier this year with their most experimental and heaviest release yet with ‘Burn You Down’. And now as they head towards their fifth studio album they’re ready to give you a punch of nostalgia.

‘Live4’ fuses together the classic punk-pop sound of their earlier material with a distinctive growth and maturity also shining through. With a confidence and strength particularly coming through lead singer Shaun Diviney’s vocals, you’ll find yourself immediately taken back and impressed with how polished it sounds. Introducing a choir into the chorus, they add even more layers to the vocals and bring it into this anthemic territory that you know will just sound so good in their upcoming live shows.

Cohesively giving you more fire analogy’s, this track is all about celebrating being the underdog. Rising from the ashes and taking control of your narrative, it’s a state of mind, and if you want to break the odds then you can. “Kickin’ down the front door, this is what I live for. You and my baby gonna set the world on fire, on fire” Diviney sings during the punchy hook.

‘Live4’ is a great representation of what “classic Short Stack” sounds in 2021. Everything is elevated from the vocals to the drums, to the guitars, to the production mix, and it’s really exciting to hear them really highlight everything they’ve learnt about themselves and their sound over their journey to date.
