On the back of their return to the stage and three sold out shows at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, Crooked Colours have dropped a new song that will have you wanting to be in the middle of a mosh pitt and feeling the bass travelling through you again. ‘No Sleep’ is a moody electronic cut that builds through a brooding production into an anthemic hook that doesn’t stray far away from their roots. The pulsating energy is very moody and dreamy, which really compliments the emotional lyrical content.
Reflecting on a relationship where someone didn’t appreciate the other person until it was too late, this is a song that a lot of people will be able to find solace within. “I’m dancing with the ghost of me and you. I’m haunted by the walls inside this room. I’m starting to regret the thing I said. How did I let you go” lead vocalist Phil Slabber sings.
Premiering it at their Brisbane show the previous week, ‘No Sleep’ is a song that strongly lives in both the recorded and live spectrums. It’s elevated through the production and feels like an anthemic addition to their growing discography.
