SINGLE REVIEW: Silk Sonic; Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak – Leave The Door Open

The collaborative project between Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak is officially here, and it’s safe to say that Silk City does not disappoint one little bit. Tapping into a sultry and tight RNB sound, introductory single ‘Leave The Door Open’ is a track that will leave you feeling hot and heavy.

Pulling from the references behind both of their distinct individual sounds, they tap into a sonic that is very inspired by John Legend and Miguel as well as all of the classic artists that paved their way throughout the 50’s and 60’s. Clocking in at a 4 minute duration, the song gradually builds with slight key changes that give the song a directive trajectory. The seductive and smooth tone of the song is immediately noticeable and will have you grinding along with the rhythmic production.

Lyrically complimenting the smooth stylings of the soundscape, they profess their love for a woman where they want to let her know that the door is wide open for her to come in whenever she likes. It’s a little bit of a horny moment that we can all relate and vibe to. “I’ma leave, I’ma leave my door open, girl. And I’m hopin’, hopin’ that you feel the way I feel. And you want me like I want you tonight, baby” they sing during the chrous.

With their debut collaborative album ‘An Evening With Silk Sonic’ slated for release later this year, it’s going to be really exciting to hear this sound evolve between these two incredible and game changing artists.
