SINGLE REVIEW: Sabrina Carpenter – Skin

Oh, how the plot thickens! Sabrina Carpenter has found herself in a very public love triangle with Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett following the release of their tracks ‘Drivers License’ and ‘Lie Lie Lie’. But now the singer-songwriter has presumably spoken her side of the story with the sassy and seductive ‘Skin’.

The track hears her dropping some big lyrical clues to the surprising feud with Olivia Rodrigo as she describes her shock to the song and the bitterness, while wishing that in another life they could be friends. “Maybe you didn’t mean it. Maybe “blonde” was the only rhyme” she drops in the first verse regarding Olivia’s description of her in the song, before then quipping in the bridge “Don’t drive yourself insane”. OOFT big mood from Ms Carpenter there!

And then for the chorus she seemingly rubs it in her face that she’s not going to let her get to her, and instead is going to enjoy his company and affection. “You can try to get under my, under my, under my skin. While hе’s on mine, yeah, all on my, all on my, all on my skin”. That tea though!

With a seductive energy that builds similarly to Ariana Grande’s ‘Touch It’, she somewhat lets the song to be quite minimalist which allows the lyrics to take centerstage. It’s an immediately addictive track that will simultaneously get stuck in your head, and have you thinking “damn, girl!”.
