SINGLE REVIEW: Lana Del Rey – Let Me Love You Like A Woman

At this point, Lana Del Rey is just doing whatever she wants. She announced that her seventh studio album ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’ was coming on September 5, but the release date came and went and no album was in sight, nor any update. In fact, it’s been over a month since that false alarm, and now she’s only just dropped the first single.

‘Let Me love You Like A Woman’ is the first taste of what’s to come from this record, and it honestly sounds like it’s come straight off ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’. Cohesively continuing the stripped back and angelic melodies with calming vocals and poetic lyrics, she sends you into an emotional trance. Falling into the category of background noise, this song about starting anew lacks the memorability that her previous material has delivered, and instead is just another emotional Lana Del Rey song.

One thing that has been made very apparent by this song and the previously released ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’ is that Lana’s strong pop melodies behind ‘Born To Die’ and ‘Ultraviolence’ are never coming back. She’s moved on, and is instead doing whatever she wants without trying to create a radio or commercially accessible moment. Which is a shame because I would love at least one more anthemic Lana Del Rey song.
