Demi Lovato has had a rough couple of weeks with the tabloids and social media platforms lighting up with the news of her separation from fiance Max Ehrich. While he goes and runs his mouth and further validates the reasoning as to why their relationship ended, she has taken the high road and let her music do the talking.
‘Still Have Me’ is a beautiful pop ballad that hears the singer-songwriter opening up about the heartbreak and emotional betrayal that she has recently experienced. “I’m a mess and I’m still broken, but I’m finding my way back. And it feels like someone’s stolen all the light I ever had” she candidly confesses during the first verse before proclaiming “I don’t have much but at least I still have me” in the anthemic hook.
With just a piano and an atmospheric production beat building throughout the production, she layers it with gospel tinged harmonies that gives you full choir realness. The sonical direction is inline with her previous studio album, and I personally love hearing her like this as she sounds so empowering and raw.
This is a song for anyone that has been blind sighted by love and had their heart broken into a thousand little pieces. No matter how hurt or empty you are feeling, you can get through this because you will always have yourself.
