SINGLE REVIEW: CXLOE – One And Lonely

Ever since CXLOE dropped her debut single ‘Tough Love’ in 2017 I’ve been hooked on her innovative pop production, pulsating hooks and reflective lyrics. I’ve consistently called her a “must watch act” with every release, and she hasn’t disappointed with a continuous string of bangers and a continuous build in growth.

Later this year the Australian singer-songwriter will finally unveil her debut full body of work which will showcase the journey she’s been on as an artist, and allow her inclining trajectory to keep building.

Her new single ‘One And Lonely’ is a song that has been lingering in her set for nearly two years, and it’s now finally given its time to shine as the bonafide explosive pop-bop it is. Layered in dark and brooding synths that are similar to ’12 Steps’ and ‘I Can’t Have Nice Things’, she has this sophisticated approach to her production which is so mesmerising and addictive. Shining a pop polish over the top with her smooth vocals and an infectious pop hook, the song has an anthemic pull that all of her singles have also successfully delivered.

Reflecting on her exhausting schedule that sees her constantly on the road touring and flying internationally for writing sessions, she confides in the listener that she’s used to the feeling of loneliness. Constantly missing her partner, family and friends that she continually leaves to chase her dream, she finds her self gripping onto them for support as she navigates the complexities to these withdrawals. “You’ll always be my one and lonely, one and lonely. Wish I could be there when you want me, say you want me” she sings during the pulsating hook.

‘One And Lonely’ is yet again another smash from CXLOE that will be stuck in your head immediately, and won’t leave for a VERY long time. With every song that she’s released in the past being an absolute anthem, prepare for a whole body of work of big singalong and relatable moments.
