Returning to the groovy-pop sound behind their 2016 album ‘Glory Days’, Little Mix are ready to have a lot of fun ahead of their sixth studio album which is expected to drop later this year.
‘Holiday’ follows in the footsteps of ‘Break Up Song’ which gave listeners a 80’s inspired sonic similar to Dua Lipa’s recent material. This song strips that sonic back slightly and allows a pulsating synth and groovy guitar riff to pave the way. It’s sonically very reminiscent of Neiked’s smash hit ‘Sexual’ and also embodies that same tongue and cheek energy with the lyrics and attitude.
Embracing wanting to get swept up by someone and have their hands intimately all over you, they reinterpret what a holiday means to them. It’s about being able to be transported from your day to day life by someone and feeling absolutely refreshed from their touch.
“Wanna have a little taste, so let me lay you down. Nothing better than your skin on mine” Leigh-Anne Pinnock sings during the pre-chorus before Jade Thirwall turns up the heat on the chorus. “Can we make it all night? We don’t stop all up on my body babe. Touch me like a summer night, you feel like a holiday”.
The saucy song is a lot of fun and it feels like a classic Little Mix song. It just makes you feel good from the very first listen, and along with this playful energy, the pulsating baseline will keep you wanting to go back for more.
