SINGLE REVIEW: Zara Larsson – Love Me Land

Break ups can feel really lonely and dark because you lose your energy to dance, you sometimes forget how to smile and you genuinely can’t visually see yourself in love again. But the time always comes to give love a second chance, and that’s what Zara Larsson embraces on her fresh new single, ’Love Me Land’.

Sonically following in the footsteps of Dua Lipa’s recent sophomore record ‘Future Nostalgia’, the Swedish singer-songwriter delivers a nostalgic meets current sonic that is so hypnotising. With the 80’s meets deep-house elements intertwining with her glamour pop foundations, there is a lot of shimmer to this song.

“Never thought I would love again. Here I am, lost in Love Me Land” she sings during the vocoder layered intro and chorus. Co-written by Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter and Jason Gill, there is an emotionally charged heart behind the playful confidence that the exterior boasts. Citing the lessons she’s learnt in the past, she opens her heart again even though she’s scared to get hurt again.

The sonically stripped back approach for the chorus is really interesting because it’s unconventional in every pop formula, but works so perfectly. It’s impactful, memorable and incredibly catchy.

Growing on you with each listen, ‘Love Me Land’ is a another smash for Zara Larsson.
