SINGLE REVIEW: JXN – Paranoia

It may only be six weeks since JXN released his debut EP ‘NeverASadAdventure’, but the Melbourne singer-songwriter has proved that he isn’t slowing down for anyone by dropping a brand new single.

‘Paranoia’ hears JXN continuing the exciting growth in his artistry by taking a left turn in his RNB sound and delivering something that is a little different to what we’ve heard from him in the past. With a similar sonical structure to ‘Circles’ by Post Malone, this song has that familiar rhythmic core in tact, but has layered it with live production. The guitar riff and bouncy percussion is immediately catchy and will draw you in. But what got me particularly excited about the direction he could head in was the electric guitar distortion before the chorus.

Reflecting on the essence of paranoia, JXN explores how you can feel so comfortable and warm in a situation one minute and then feel so out of place, confused and scared the next. “I’m all alone just trying to find ya, feel like I’ve been through it all. Stuck in this place of paranoia, I just wanna feel something more” he sings.

This song is a strong indication that his incline in trajectory isn’t over yet, and he’s going to continue to grow as an artist and reach more new listeners.
