SINGLE REVIEW: Cosmos Midnight – Yesteryear

Cosmos Midnight have continually delivered bold moments of electronic-pop fusion, and they aren’t letting a global pandemic get in their way of creating and releasing more.

Their new single ‘Yesteryear’ hears the Sydney brother duo diving further into their DIY foundations and giving listeners one of their most authentic tracks yet. With Patrick stepping into the spotlight as the main vocalist, they don’t hold back from going all in.

Following in the footsteps of their highly acclaimed Ruel collaboration ‘Down For You’, they keep the psychedelic pop aesthetic rolling with a full 70’s meets 80’s interpolated groove. Finding a current polish to bring it all together, the song gives listeners pure experimental vibes. It’s the sort of song that you can imagine playing in the background during a sun-soaked afternoon drinks with friends.

Reflecting on the heavy emotions and growth that we experience during a year, they dig deep to give you an introspective moment. “I gotta get up, I’m shaking you off. Said, baby, we let go but never enough” they sing during the chorus.

It’s a very chilled out psychedelic pop moment that fits perfectly in-between some of their most recent releases.
