SINGLE REVIEW: Nasty Cherry – I Am King

Nasty Cherry are having a lot of fun while they introduce themselves to listeners and dive deeper into their foundational sound.

Following the release of the angsty and anthemic ‘Shoulda Known Better’, the dynamic four piece have a new track for you to embrace which is straight off their forthcoming second EP poignantly called ‘Season 2’ on June 19.

‘I Am King’ is a self empowering gritty pop-rock song that is all about the importance of masturbation. It’s super playful and doesn’t take the subject matter too seriously. It’s intended to be empowering and all about embracing how you feel.

“I’m addicted. Hooked on it. When I touch myself. Love is sneaky. Keep it freaky. Or go to hell”. Lead singer Gabi Bechtel quips. But it’s the line “I wanna kiki with my kiki” that makes me ridiculously happy.

Produced by Dylan Brady from 100 Gecs, the song has a full angst energy to it that is elevated by vocal distortion, crunchy guitars and the badass lyrical storyline.

The self pleasure track is angsty, honest and ridiculously catchy. So I hope it get you in a mood…
