SINGLE REVIEW: Lakyn – Superhuman

After re-introducing himself to listeners with his EP ‘& Pains’ in 2018, Lakyn has been building the foundations to keep heading in this explorational RNB infused direction.

While holding onto his guitar roots, ‘Superhuman’ hears the Melbourne singer-songwriter layering beats over the top and giving a retrospective summer vibe that feels laid back, but is uniquely  contrasted by the layers of production.

Inspired by the music that soundtracks video games like Grand Theft Auto, this song immediately brings you into that nostalgic world from the moment the moody first verse begins and he oozes through the delivery.

While the aesthetic is red hot, there isn’t much depth and there is a bit of a disconnect with the lyrical storytelling as after a few listens I’m still unclear of what he’s wanting to tell me. But with it’s Frank Ocean styled groove, you will be happily soaked in his vibes for a hot minute.
