SINGLE REVIEW: Boo Seeka – Take A Look

Boo Seeka are no strangers to the touring circuit with usually a consistent flow of headlining shows, support slots and festival dates scattered throughout the year, 2020 has been unusually quiet thanks to the ongoing pandemic sweeping the world.

While they can’t currently take to the stage and deliver a euphoric set of uplifting indie electronic-pop, the Sydney duo are instead finally giving fans the highly anticipated lead single to their forthcoming sophomore record.

‘Take A Look’ is a fresh perspective taken from the new chapter they’ve begun in their personal lives and as a band. Reflecting on a piece of advice they realised they should’ve been following earlier on, they embrace the sentiment and start a fresh canvas mentally and physically.

“Take a look at me now. Are you running the game? Never running away” they sing during the ethereal chorus that takes this brooding electronic production and still manages to contain its wholesome essence so purely.

Keeping the euphoric and important foundations as the key focus of this song, they don’t over saturate the electronic production with anything that feels too self-indulgent. Instead they layer moody production qualities with the sense of hope and new beginnings pulsating through the darker synths.

Aesthetically it continues their deep dive into indie electronic-pop and gives you something that you can already imagine euphorically singing along to at a music festival. And I for one am so ready!
