SINGLE REVIEW: Charli XCX – Claws

While the world is in the middle of complete uncertainty due to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become well known that everyone is taking this isolation time differently. Some are wallowing in Netflix binge marathons and others are jumping into projects to help the time go by.

Charli XCX is one of these people who have dived head first into a very productive and ambitious project. Writing and recording her new album ‘How I’m Feeling Now’ exclusively in isolation, the highly anticipated record will be released on May 15.

The second official single ‘Claws’ was decided by fans after she posted snippets on her Instagram and hears her giving them a whole lot of classic Charli XCX magic.

The PC-pop track is full of glitchy production and hears her intertwining pop, hip hop, electronica and trance influences together with thanks to Dylan Brady from 100 Gecs who produced the track.

“I like-I like-I like-I like-I like everything about you” she proclaims during the glitchy hook as she explores the feeling of being close to the one you love every day in isolation.

It’s a loved up track that feels so positive, experimental and fun. It’s the sort of track that you want to go out partying too, but for the time being you will just need to party in your homes to it.
