SINGLE REVIEW: Lakelend – Fall Down

It’s time to get acquainted with your new favourite electropop act straight out of Melbourne, Lakelend.

This new solo project from former Storm The Sky guitarist and songwriter Lachlan Avis hears him finding his own musical roots as he steps away from the bands rock sound and finds a home in pop.

His debut single ‘Fall Down’ is a uplifting listen that incorporates pulsating synths with polished pop beats that will have you immediately grooving along to the euphoric production.

Tapping into a sound that is reminiscent of LAUV, Conan Gray and LANY, the indie-pop production feels fresh and summery which is a nice escape to the incoming Australian winter. But the song’s strong pop hook holds a similar melody to ‘Healing Hands by Conrad Sewell that will have the listener feeling a sense of serendipity.

Contrasting the dreamy upbeat production with an emotionally driven storyline, he reflects on the all rounded experience of first love and first heartbreak. Citing his lover moving on, he wishes that their journey wouldn’t end this way.

“Fall down with him, don’t fall down with me cause you’ll never know what you really need. Fall down with him baby, please” he emotionally sings during the chorus.

‘Fall Down’ is a really strong debut for Lakelend that packs a catchy hook and hints towards a even bigger future of releases.
