SINGLE REVIEW: The Rubens – Heavy Weather

With the current COVID-19 pandemic affecting The Rubens big plans for 2020 with their upcoming Australian tour being rescheduled and their fourth studio album being pushed back until 2021, they are trying to stay positive throughout all of the unknown.

Citing this calm hopefulness, their new single ‘Heavy Weather’ explores embracing positivity in times where your brain may feel clouded by negative thoughts and feelings.

“It’s all that heavy weather in my chest again. Will I ever see a change? lead singer Sam Margin questions during the pre chorus with them later elaborating on the severity of how you feel with the lyric “the touch of a feather could knock you off your throne back into heavy weather” during the hook.

Channeling the euphoric and anthemic stylings of Panic! At The Disco, Twenty One Pilots and Imagine Dragons, they’ve curated an epic production that takes the listener on a big journey that embodies this huge feel-good hook.

Armed with big trumpets that elevate their usual indie pop-rock sound, this production immediately captivates the listener and will have you ready to sing along in a sweaty crowd.

Stay tuned for the rescheduled dates of The Rubens upcoming Australian tour which will be announced shortly.
