LIVE REVIEW: The Pussycat Dolls – Hit Network’s World Famous Rooftop

It’s been 11 years since The Pussycat Dolls were last in Australia for their Doll Domination Tour, and ahead of their huge return next month to headline So Pop, they’ve made a special little pre-emptive visit.

Touching down for a whirlwind three days of press, the dolls kicked off their visit in Melbourne for a exclusive show as apart of the World Famous Rooftop series thanks to the Hit Network and McDonald’s.

Hosted by Ash London, this invite only event saw competition winners coming together to experience a money can’t buy intimate show where it was just them, the dolls and some bonafide bangers.

Dramatically making their way onto the stage with an epic fully choreographed intro, they opened their set with ‘Buttons’ which immediately had the singalong’s ignited by the ecstatic crowd.

Segueing straight into ‘When I Grow Up’, they introduced a new modern take of the chorus which was a little more beat driven and experimental at heart. Taking a moment to thank the crowd for coming out and welcoming them back as a group, they exclaimed their excitement to be back down under and to be coming back next month for So Pop.

Dedicating ‘Stickwitu’ to their day one fans, the harmonious singalong felt so pure, like a giant warm hug from the crowd to the dolls. Turning the heat back up, they pulled out all the choreography for their breakthrough smash hit ‘Don’t Cha’ before closing their set with their infectious new single ‘React’. And yes, they did re-enact that fiery chair choreography on stage.

The brief show was an intimate and rare affair that felt like a one-on-one experience even though there was a hundred people in attendance. But it was truly a once in a lifetime show that saw them performing some of their biggest hits to some of their biggest Australian fans. With a lot of thought going into the choreography for this intimate show, I can’t wait to see how they elevate it even further on the So Pop stage.
