SINGLE REVIEW: E^ST – FRESH OUT OF LOVE

Sweeping in with a lush track about giving your all to someone who doesn’t feel the same way, E^ST has provided the perfect Valentines Day soundtrack for anyone who isn’t loved up on this overly commercialised day.

‘FRESH OUT OF LOVE’ is a retrospective pop song that hears the Sydney singer-songwriter diving into over the top territory within her production through swooping strings and heartbreaking melodies. Inspired by the big ballads of the 60’s, there are also elements of Lana Del Rey and King Princess within the foundations.

The outcome is a lush indie-pop moment that feels rather grand and anthemic without being aggressively in your face. She instead gently coo’s through the verses.

I’ve been learning lessons I should really know by now. I gotta stop pretending people wouldn’t let me down” she sings during the opening moments of the song. And the honest truth bombs don’t stop there as she follows it up with; “I just keep on giving, even when there’s no return. I shouldn’t be surprised that I’m the one who’s getting burned”.

The whole song feels like a reflective outpouring of emotions as she comes to terms with the ups and downs of life and embraces the way she feels so purely.

Her debut album ‘I’m Doing It’ is due to be released in June 2020 and if this song is anything to go by, it’s going to be a eclectic collection of tracks with anthemic and memorable moments.
