SINGLE REVIEW: The Naked And Famous – Bury Us

With a burst of energy and buzzing synths behind them, New Zealand favourites The Naked And Famous are back to get you unashamedly bouncing and singing along with their catchy hooks and beats.

The indie-pop duo are coming in hot with their highly anticipated fourth studio album ‘Recover’ slated for a May release. And they will also be hitting the road with a little run of dates across Australia for Wine Machine Festival alongside Hot Dub Time Machine, The Jungle Giants, Bag Raiders, Northeast Party House, Alice Ivy and more.

With all of these exciting announcements surrounding their return, they’ve also dropped a bold new single for you to fangirl over. ‘Bury Us’ is a definitive sounding The Naked And Famous track. It has hard hitting indie-pop synths, a HUGE sounding hook and is just a whole lot of fun.

There is a raw energy that is embodied deep within the soul of this track that their previous single ‘Sunseeker’ didn’t capture. This song is less chaotic in it’s delivery and feels more fulfilled and together sonically.

The lyrical cohesiveness is less storyteller and is more aesthetically put together with words rolling into the melody and connecting with the synths they’ve layered the production with. But one of the strongest lines is; “tearing at the seams, tell me what you mean, when you scream in your dreams” which gives you a bit of a vivid imagery.

This is marginally a stronger song that ‘Sunseeker’ to kick start the promotional period of this record and hopefully the big anthemic tracks keep on rolling.
