GRAACE is a talent that is finally getting the recognition she deserves. The Sydney singer-songwriter has been getting well acquainted with listeners recently thanks to a steady stream of singles making it through their airwaves.
Embarking on her biggest headlining tour of Australia yet, she finally got to play her first show in Brisbane which saw her unsurprisingly selling it out quickly. Taking to the stage at Black Bear Lodge to a massive cheering of support, she launched straight into the euphoric opening tracks ‘Kissing Boys’, ’Have Fun At Your Party’ and recent single ‘21st Century Love’.
Thanking the crowd for coming along and selling the show out, she had a giant smile on her face that highlighted how happy and shocked she was by the turnout. With just her and her friend Xavier Dunn on stage, they aesthetically set the stage with lights wrapped around their stands that complimented her bedazzled glitter microphone.
Playing songs from her debut EP ‘Self Sabotage’ she treated the crowd to the emotional delivery of ‘Me Without You’ and the dreamy harmonies of ‘SOS’ which the crowd surprisingly sang along to loudly in unison.
With only one EP and a string of singles out in the world, she wanted to preview a new song to the crowd which highlighted a different side to her artistry that we haven’t really heard before. ’Downgraded’ is a sassy track that oozes attitude and hears her confronting her ex and noting that he definitely downgraded after leaving her. There’s a great level of self-empowerment involved within the delivery which would be a strong single for her to release next.
Stepping into cover territory she stripped back ‘Use Somebody’ by Kings Of Leon for a dreamy makeover before performing her Like A Version cover of ‘Complicated’ by Avril Lavigne which was obviously met by a lot of excitement.
With the short show coming to an end, she had the crowd dancing along to her Hayden James collaboration ‘Numb’ before leaving them feeling all emotional with ‘Last Night’.
This show was put together so perfectly, and showed so many different sides to who GRAACE is as an artist. And with her growing trajectory, she is going to continually keep selling out bigger venues over the next 12 months.
Supporting the show was the incredibly talented newcomer Keelan Mak. Pulling in a big crowd early into his set, he had them grooving along and even had some singing along. With the energy of the moody set building throughout the duration, it finally climaxed with the closing tracks ‘Sleep Talker’ and ‘Weigh You Down’ which were definitely the groovy party moments of his set.
GRAACE will wrap up her Australian tour this Saturday 22 November at MOJO’s in Fremantle
