SINGLE REVIEW: Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey & Miley Cyrus – Don’t Call Me An Angel

It’s one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year and for good reason. It’s literally a gay boy’s dream pop threesome with Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey and Miley Cyrus teaming up for the lead single from the forthcoming Charlie’s Angels remake soundtrack. ‘Don’t Call Me An Angel’ is sonically on the same wave length as Ariana Grande’s recent material with it’s slick RNB injected vibes and laid back production. With Ariana and Miley taking lead on this track, their impact overpowers Lana’s and has her verse becoming quite forgettable. While the star power in their trio is unmatchable, they could’ve replaced her with someone that could’ve added to the sultry and sassy vibes that the others offer because instead she just gets lost. It gets to the third verse and you are waiting for something epic to occur but instead it just takes a massive dip.

But, putting that aside, this song is still very catchy and memorable as a whole. The production is catchy and will have you singing along to the sassy hook. “Boy, don’t call me angel. You ain’t got me right”. The only thing about the chorus’ melody is that it sounds VERY similar to ‘Break Up With Your Girlfriend’ which is interesting to say the least.

So it might not be the most innovative song but it’s still catchy and will do a great service to this upcoming remake of the successful franchise that is so iconic.
