SINGLE REVIEW: Sam Bluer – Naughty

Over the past two years Sam Bluer has been introducing his experimental indie-pop to listeners with strong melodies and DIY production. With each single showing an impressive progress and growth in his artistry, he’s been continually finding himself and establishing a strong discography with a string of singles. Adding to the list is the fiery new track, ‘Naughty’. Beginning as a bit of a slow burner, the song grows on the listener with it’s groovy and DIY pop production. The breakdown really drives the playful song to new heights. Exploring the idea of cheating on his boyfriend, he pays homage to Robyn’s ‘Call Your Girlfriend’. “Gave into what I wanted but it’s not really my problem. Deal with it in the morning. Guess I’m not keeping my promise”. It’s got such a playful and seductive feel to it that you can’t help but feel a little naughty when listening to it. And yes, that pun was intended.
