Following the conclusion of her recent ‘For Your Love’ Australian tour, Montaigne is finally ready to announce the details surrounding her highly anticipated sophomore studio album. ‘Complex’ will be released on August 30 and sees the singer-songwriter teaming up with some massive producers behind tracks for the likes of Courtney Barnett, Janelle Monae, Dua Lipa, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, St. Vincent and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. To add to the excitement of this announcement, she’s also dropped an anthemic and heartfelt new single.
‘Ready’ is a call for action. It’s a soundtrack for activism. It’s an uplifting cry for help. Looking at the political state of the world, she questions the legitimacy of fear surrounding the future for our environment. With politicians not seeming to understand the seriousness of what is happening, we are watching our world fall apart in front of us. Sounds dramatic but it’s true and that’s what Montaigne addresses in this very passionate song. Fuelled with a polished pop production and an anthemic hook, this song serves big drums and a festival ready hook. “And I’m, I’m out on the wind, so catch my wings. I think I’m ready to go”. She shows her eagerness to help and make a difference and that speaks volumes. This is a very bold and cinematic song that is reminiscent of her earlier material and continues to show her grow her pop sound.
