SINGLE REVIEW: SG Lewis feat. Ruel – Flames

RUEL is currently touring Australia and playing his biggest headlining shows yet which includes venues like Sydney Opera House, The Tivoli and The Forum which is a massive feat for a sixteen year old singer-songwriter who has only officially released one EP. As apart of these new live shows he premiered a new collaboration with SG Lewis which is out now in all of it’s polished glory. ‘Flames’ is a mature and fiery track (excuse the pun) which takes his soulful roots and implements it into an intelligent electronic beat. Dark synths lead this song but it’s the smooth harmonies that really capture your attention. The way the production and his vocals blend is soothing and powerful. The whole time you are listening you won’t be able to believe that this is the bi-product of a sixteen year old because of how polished and mature it is. The production is very experimental and isn’t predictable which is an exciting thing because recently every electronic song is starting to sound similar but this one stands out. The evolution of Ruel is an exciting one and one that will see him dominating the touring circuit in Australia sooner than later.
