SINGLE REVIEW: Lewis Capaldi – Hold Me While You Wait

In a couple of weeks, Lewis Capaldi will be releasing his highly anticipated debut album ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ which is expected to comfortably sit at the top of the UK charts for a long time just like the massive hit single ‘Someone You Loved’. With the May 17 release date creeping closer, the Scottish singer-songwriter has dropped another emotionally raw track to evoke all your repressed thoughts. ‘Hold Me While You Wait’ is a heartbreaking and soothing track about the intimate moments of a break-up where all you want is them to turn around and change their mind. It’s the final moments where you just want them to hold you and not let go. It’s that fairytale meets movie magic moment where they turn around and embrace you, but it never happens. He perfectly embodies that raw emotion that we have all experienced at one point in our life, whether it’s a partner, family member or friend walking away when you needed them most. “And hold me while you wait. I wish that I was good enough. If only I could wake you up. My love, my love, my love, my love. Won’t you stay a while?”. And throughout the whole 3 minute duration you will captivated. It’s just as emotional and vulnerable as ‘Someone You Loved’ and he gives you pure emotion through his strong vocal delivery. The piano ballad grows into this anthemic release of emotions with strings and drums giving you that emotional relief you needed.
