SINGLE REVIEW: Aly & AJ – Don’t Go Changing

Soaked in nostalgic 80’s synths, Aly & AJ have returned stronger than they’ve ever been. Your early 2000’s Disney favourites provided some sassy anthems that ignited your childhood but now as they’ve matured into adults they are diving into some heavier and moodier themes. Their reflective new single ‘Don’t Go Changing’ comes just a week before the sister duo kick off their massive North American Tour in celebration of their forthcoming new EP ‘Sanctuary’. Backed with slick pulsating synths and big anthemic drums, this song becomes an appreciation bop in it’s own right. Reflecting on the genuine love you have for someone whether it may be a lover, family member or friend, they stress the importance of them always being their genuine self and how they should never change. “Don’t go changing on me, babe. Typical feeling. Who ever told you you’re not good enough? Just don’t go changing on me, babe. Physical healing. Why don’t we dance away your fear of love?”. Its a very cute and encouraging track that radiates this positive outlook that is needed in music and society at the moment. Packed with it’s strong sentiment this track will have you immediately dancing and swaying along to its euphoric hook. Their harmonies only continue to get stronger as they dive further into this dreamy new sound they’ve uncovered for themselves, so prepare yourself for more future bops.
