SINGLE REVIEW: Jack River – Adolescent

Ahead of her massive Sugar Mountain Ball Tour which kicks off next month, Jack River has dropped a grungy and captivating new single to get you hyped. ‘Adolescent’ comes off the back of the HUGE success of her Peking Duk collaboration ‘Sugar’ and introduces new listeners to a darker synth sound that her debut album dabbled with. Reflecting on the culture that celebrates shallow love, she offloads a whole lot of angst and has you living nostalgically in the 90’s. Citing influences from the likes of Hole, Garbage and even No Doubt, she brings back that powerful female grunge pop-rock that is kinda missing in the world right now. “You’re so mistaken, I won’t fall for you. Love, love, your love obsession. Hey, hey, so fucking adolescent”. She drives the chorus with this big hook that will instantly become a favourite on Triple J and will become a cool moment in her live show. After a first listen you will want to have a second, and a third, and a fourth. It’s a killer track that carries a big punch and that’s the truth.
