Jack Gray is one of the Australian newcomers that I truly think you should keep an eye on. His debut single with Warner Music Australia ‘My Hands’ was a catchy injection of alternative-pop which was then followed up by the sophisticated tracks ‘Drunk Talk’ and ‘Down Side Of Up’. After a crazy year of touring with the likes of Dean Lewis and E^ST the singer-songwriter is finally releasing his debut EP ‘Nights Like This’ on May 31 followed by his first headline tour. This collection of tracks will showcase not only his vulnerability as a songwriter but also his artistic diversity. To coincide with the exciting announcements he has dropped a new single to tie you over to the EP release. ‘Take Our Time’ is a vulnerable song that reflects on dealing with life’s transitions and mentally balancing the ups and downs in the moment. “And she said what’s the point for waiting on the sun to come up if it’s not as bright. And she said what’s the point of holding onto something you love just to say goodbye”. Sometime’s life’s timing isn’t ideal and you find yourself constantly questioning why and what’s the point when you are continually dragged down. But it’s realising that it’s apart of life and apart of the human condition but growing from it. He represents that ideology through the steady production build up which begins as a soft and tender ballad that then adds synths and drums towards the end of the song to show the change in thought process. It’s a beautiful and simplistic moment which will close the EP and give you a vulnerable insight into his ideology about life.
