It’s a little ironic that the lead single from Tame Impala’s forthcoming fourth studio album is called ‘Patience’ because that’s what we’ve had to learn to have since the release of his critically acclaimed album ‘Currents’ in 2015. With new music teased for a long time now and his massive impact on pop culture cementing his household name status, the Australian singer-songwriter and producer is already billed to headline festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury, Primavera, Pukkelpop and Lollapalooza this year. Kevin Parker has unexpectedly decided to surprise drop the lead single which will have you feeling a lot of emotions. Reflecting on the timing of things in his life he questions his career and relationships and finds solace in the fact that he’s just living his life in phases. “Just growing up in stages. Living life in phases. Another season changes and still my days are shapeless”. It has a bright and reflective vibe to the aura of the song which is heightened by it’s 90’s disco influences that make this song feel so psychedelic and groovy. It’s very him and from a first listen you will be in love with the production and vibe. It’s exactly what you want from a Tame Impala song with the addition of something a little different which comes from the disco sound. It makes you question in what direction the rest of the album will float to but you already know it will be a dreamy and hazy journey.
