SINGLE REVIEW: Maggie Lindemann – Friends Go

Maggie Lindemann knows how to write a hit, I mean listen to ‘Obsessed’ and ‘Pretty Girl’ because the proof is all there. The Los Angeles singer-songwriter is currently on the road with Sabrina Carpenter for her North American ‘The Singular Tour’ and whilst she’s impressing crowds with her honest and slick sound she’s decided to drop another new track. ‘Friends Go’ is a rhythmic and catchy track that serves as another taste from her forthcoming debut EP which will hopefully be released sooner than later because it’s been a long time coming already. This funky track introduces a tropical reggae vibe with a polished pop production that aligns it with her previous releases. She questions her friendships with people and the intentions that some people unfortunately have in this unfortunate social toxicity. But also finds the importance of being your own best friend and embracing those moments of solace when you’re alone. “I’m all by myself, where did all my friends go?I miss you like hell, I know you’ll be back though”. It’s a very bold and brassy delivery which is different to her previous releases and stands out as something different. It will take a few listens to grab a hold of you but when it does you will be grooving along.
