SINGLE REVIEW: Foster The People – Style

On the back of their vibrant neon fantasy inspired third studio album ‘Sacred Hearts Club’, Foster The People have already steered straight into the creative process for their fourth studio album. With the lead single ‘Worst Nites’ continuing the bright and funky sound it’s obvious that they want to continue to make you groove all night long. Their new single ‘Style’ briefly (and thankfully) returns to their indie-rock sound. With heavy guitars, drums and a lot of bass, this song is more heavily routed in the early days of their music. There is still a slight groove about the way the hook rolls but it’s more like ‘Are You What You Want To Be’ than ‘Worst Nites’. It’s catchy enough that you will be singing along to “If you’re going to take me out, take me out in style” but also not as pop focused that you start questioning who they are as a band now. It’s a fiery and strong will powered song that will be a great addition to their live show.
