SINGLE REVIEW: Crooked Colours – Hold On

Perth trio Crooked Colours are absolutely killing the electronic circuit at the moment. With their highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Langata’ slated for a May 17 release they are premiering new songs on the Groovin The Moo festival tour at the end of April before playing some of their biggest headline shows to date just after they drop the album. To get the vibes flowing they’ve dropped their third promo track from the record to give you a taste of what’s to come. ‘Hold On’ is a moody and ambient track that brews a dreamy synthesiser production. With the verses building they drop a nostalgic deep house inspired beat for the hook which enhances the mood this song establishes. It’s very reminiscent of Rufus Du Sol’s recent material and will have you floating in that reflective electronic headspace. “Here tonight, when I think of you I feel alive. Come on hold me let me close my eyes. I die. I feel alive”. There’s a dark and romantic vibe to the song which will pull you in and have you grooving along instantly. It’s a great little taste of what’s to come from this very ambitious album to come.
