SINGLE REVIEW: Carly Rae Jepsen – Now That I Found You / No Drug Like Me

It’s the week that a lot of your favourites decided to make their return with new singles and a whole lot of new vibes. But there was one artist in particular that had the grips of social media quaking from excitement and that was Ms Carly Rae Jepsen. After the release of her highly acclaimed sophomore album ‘Emotion’ she’s returned with a even more polished pop sound. Deciding to drop two singles instead of just one ‘Now That I Found You’ and ‘No Drug Like Me’ offers two unique sounds that dive into her discography. ‘Now That I Found You’ is the glistening polished pop track that will have you running around gushing about falling in love and spreading positive vibes. It comes at the perfect time with Sydney’s Mardi Gras Weekend in full bloom at the moment. “No, there’s nothing like this feeling, baby now that I found you”. She reflects on that initial feeling when you start to fall in love with someone and how it feels like a rush and a drug that you don’t want to end. It’s upbeat production and infectious hook makes It the perfect lead single, whereas ‘No Drug Like Me’ is a little more experimental like the album tracks from ‘Emotion’ that impressed with their pulsating dark synths. I wouldn’t say it’s rough because the production is super polished but it’s a lot moodier and darker with it’s delivery compared to it’s preceder. She is seductive with her vocal delivery as she admits “you ain’t tried no drug like me” as she entices a future lover. It has a very playful and cool vibe to it that you can’t help but love. But it’s definitely not a single that radio would play. This is the B-side that fans will love and sing all the lyrics to whilst ‘Now That I Found You’ is for the radios to play to death.
