SINGLE REVIEW: WAAX – FU

Punk-rock is starting to creep back into the mainstream spotlight and it’s bands like WAAX who are making a huge contribution to this trend. Over the past couple of years the Brisbane based five-piece have delivered highly energetic shows full of raw energy and pure rock n roll vibes. They’ve played alongside the likes of Fall Out Boy, Wolf Alice and Biffy Clyro as well as performed at some of Australia’s biggest festivals making them a bit of a Triple J favourite. Following up the successful ‘Labrador’ is the bold and anthemic ‘FU’ which has been a fan favourite in their live set for a little while now. The powerful, cathartic and direct track takes an empowering turn as it encourages people to take a stand against someone who is trying to take advantage of you. “Nobody hurts me, fuck you for trying, you got me all wrong”. It’s a very common situation that continues to happen and we need to highlight the importance of taking a stand against emotional or physical manipulation. This track instantly captures your attention with it’s fiery hook that will be automatically stuck in your head. You will just want to scream it out over and over again as you continue to press replay. It’s a strong return from a Brisbane band who are bringing back epic punk-rock.
