SINGLE REVIEW: Billie Eilish – Bury A Friend

Billie Eilish’s long awaited debut studio album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ may just be one of the most anticipated records of the year. With a March 29 release date slated, she’s just dropped the creepy and captivating lead single. ‘Bury A Friend’ is everything you expect and want from Billie Eilish, but it also happens to be a whole lot more. Telling the classic age old story of the monster under the bed she gives you a twist. She is that monster because she is her own worst enemy. So she questions what that monster under the bed would be thinking. “What do you want from me? Why don’t you run from me? What are you wondering? What do you know? Why aren’t you scared of me? Why do you care for me?”. This vivid storyline comes to life with it’s dark and captivating production which sounds like a new version of Kanye West’s ‘Black Skinhead’. But she owns it with her own soothing and creepy take. Theres something about this song that will haunt you but will have you wanting to immediately press replay. Is there something wrong with you if you feel the same way? Probably. But thats the fun of this track. You know it’s creepy and sardistic but it’s also so fresh and cool.
