SINGLE REVIEW: Sigrid – Don’t Feel Like Crying

In 2017, Sigrid had us euphorically dancing to ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ and ‘Strangers’ and in 2018 she had us feeling a little more emotional with ‘Raw’ and ‘Sucker Punch’ whilst diving into a reflective and heartfelt realm. But 2019 is already shaping up to be the Norwegian singer-songwriters biggest year yet with her debut album being finally unleashed to the world on March 1. And with the release date looming she’s decided to release another funky new single to get you dancing again with tears in your eyes. The appropriately titled ‘Don’t Feel Like Crying’ is a groovy upbeat pop track with an emotive underlaying message of self-growth through heartbreak. “I dry my eyes cause I don’t feel like crying”. It reflects on trying to move on but also knowing the limits to your own emotions. “It hasn’t hit me yet and I know if I go home I’m gonna get upset”. She perfectly combines this reflective storytelling with a radio ready pop hook which you can immediately imagine yourself dancing to without a care in the world. It’s the sort of song that will become an instant favourite in her live set and will be a great addition to her festival setlist.
