With her third studio album ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’ due later this year, Lana Del Rey has kicked off 2019 with another exclusive fan track. ‘Hope Is A Dangerous Thing For A Woman (But I Have It)’ is a minimal and sweeping track that is simply beautiful. But that’s where it stops. It’s beautiful, but it’s not breathtaking. The song lacks a spiritual awakening and production evolution that takes this song to new heights. Instead, it just comfortably sits in between beautiful and simple. Using poetry references to Sylvia Plath, she creates a very intelligent track about hope and growth but I just wish the production and structure allowed that to be represented better. It’s just a little bland and could’ve been more striking in it’s delivery. For a Lana Del Rey song it’s forgettable at best and it’s understandable why this was only released as a “fan track”.
