SINGLE REVIEW: Kwame – Clouds

2018 has been a big year for Kwame. The Sydney based producer and rapper has just been crowned Triple J Unearthed’s Artist Of The Year which deservingly comes off the back of a massive year of touring, festival sets and even a highly coveted BigSound showcase. Keeping the momentum rolling he’s just dropped a new single and an accompanying headline tour for early next year. ‘Clouds’ is a brief 2 minute hype track that hears him showcasing his growth as a rapper and producer with a pure fire delivery that will have you bumping and blasting. It’s a track which has massive international appeal and is one you can expect to hear all over Triple J this summer. The brash trap inspired hip-hop beat is very bold and will keep you bouncing while he raps over it about self realisation. He takes a moment to reflect on his childhood and his growth as an artist and does a humble brag about how much he has risen. “I’m that diamond in the rough” he chants during the final verse and confesses “teachers said I won’t be nothing but your children have me bumping”. I bet they feel silly now. He really does have the potential to be Australia’s next biggest export alongside CXLOE and G-Flip.
